Southwestern Oklahoma State Athletics

Johnston was a member of two College National Finals Rodeo teams for the Southwestern women and helped the team to the national championship in 1993 by winning the all-around title. She also helped SWOSU win Central Plains regional titles in 1993 and 1994. Meier went on to be a ten-time Kansas Professional Rodeo Association breakaway roping champion and two-time all-around champion. She served as head rodeo coach for Garden City Community College from 1999 to 2003. Meier was inducted into the Garden City Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.
