During his time as a Bulldog, Wild helped Southwestern to two conference titles in 1933 and 1934. Wild would later go on to coach more than 27 years beginning at Hollis and eventually won state football titles at both Watonga and Frederick. He then coached three years at Putnam City West and spent another nine years there as the school’s assistant principal. Along the way, Wild won numerous district and regional championships in basketball, track, baseball and football.

His 1956 Frederick High School team was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. It was the first integrated team in the state to win a state championship. The team was a perfect 14-0, and outscored their opponents 553-26 en route to a victory over Okmulgee-Dunbar in the Class B championship.
