4832Melanie (Folsom) Miller was a two-year member of the SWOSU Women's Golf team where she competed for the Lady Bulldogs from 1996-98. After beginning her career and playing for two seasons at Wichita State University, Miller transferred to SWOSU in the fall of 1995 and she was a member of the inaugural Women's Golf team at SWOSU under Head Coach Cecil Perkins. Her team won three tournament championships in 1997 and had six other top-five finishes in her two year stint, with both seasons concluding at the NAIA National Championship tournament. In 1997, the Lady Bulldogs finished fifth at the NAIA Championships with Miller finishing tied for 10th place and the 1998 squad was the national runner-up. Miller took third as an individual at the 1998 National Championships, with a two-day stroke total of 149, which is still a SWOSU postseason record. Miller earned her bachelor's degree in Recreation Leadership with a minor in Geography from SWOSU in 1998 before continuing on to receive a master's degree in Early Childhood Development in 2000. During the 2000 season, she served as a graduate assistant for the SWOSU Women's Golf team and she later served as the Bulldog's Cross Country coach from 2004-06. Raised in an Army household, Miller lived throughout the United States and overseas growing up, but she has made Weatherford her home since 1995 and she remains an active member of the campus community, where she works in the department of Admissions & Recruitment.
