Polston was a football star for the Bulldogs in the early 1960’s before entering into the education field. He became the head football coach and athletic director at Lawton Eisenhower High School and remained at Ike for next seven years. In 1974, Polston was chosen as one of the coaches for the South team in the All-State football game. He then moved on to the collegiate ranks taking over as an assistant football coach at Cameron University before leaving coaching in 1978 to enter into private business.
