Originally from Oklahoma City, Anderson was an all-around star at Southwestern during his undergraduate days, graduating in 1919. Anderson was a member of the SWOSU football, basketball and track teams. A defensive force as a forward, he was said to cover more of the court than any other player in Oklahoma. During a 1918 track meet in Norman, Okla., he finished second in the all-around men’s competition. Later on that season, he led the Bulldogs to a fourth place finish in Oklahoma Intercollegiate Meet after placing second in the 100 yard and 220 yard sprint. As a pitcher, he once struck out 18 batters in a game against Central Oklahoma.

Upon graduation, he served as the second Executive Secretary of the Oklahoma Secondary Sports Athletic Association. Anderson was instrumental in the smooth transition of the OSSAA offices to Oklahoma City. His hard work and effort are still felt throughout the organization to this day.
