Setting the Scene
• Fresh off their first defeat of 2020, the SWOSU Women's Basketball team returns to action this weekend, opening a four-game home stand at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center
• First up for the Lady Bulldogs is a matchup against Ouachita on Thursday evening before SWOSU hosts Henderson State on Saturday afternoon
• SWOSU has the third-longest active home win streak in NCAA Division II at 35 consecutive wins at the PCEC dating back to February 2017
• The Lady Bulldogs have controlled the series against both Ouachita and HSU in recent years with five consecutive wins over the Tigers and six straight victories against the Reddies
• SWOSU dropped from the rankings in the WBCA Coaches Poll this week for the first time since January 1, 2019, snapping a stretch of 14 consecutive polls in which the Lady Bulldogs were ranked
• Lady Bulldog head coach Kelsi Musick recorded her 200th career victory last Thursday at Monticello, giving her a record of 100-25 in between her 100th and 200th wins at SWOSU
 
About the Opponent
Ouachita (4-8, 1-5 GAC)
• The Tigers have won two of their last three games after defeating Oklahoma Baptist 71-62 on Saturday for their first conference victory of the season
• With just eight players listed on their roster, Ouachita is averaging 61.4 points per game while allowing an average of 66.2 points to their opponents
• Four different players are averaging better than 10 points per game for the Tigers, who are led in scoring and rebounding by Eden Crow
 
Henderson State (9-3, 4-2 GAC)
• HSU has won three straight games, defeating Christian Brothers, Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene following their two conference losses at Harding and Arkansas-Monticello
• The Reddies are third in the GAC in both scoring offense (77.2 ppg) and scoring margin (+10.8 ppg) while their defense holds opponents to an average of 66.4 points
• Hailey Estes leads the Reddies scoring (14.7 ppg) and she's the top rebounder in the league with 9.8 rebounds per contest
 
SWOSU Notes
Makyra Tramble scored 19 points in both of SWOSU's first two games of 2020 and she's now the Lady Bulldogs leading scorer for the year with an average of 14.4 points per game
• Tramble has scored at least 10 points in 10-of-12 games, including five straight games in double figures, and she's recorded three double-doubles so far this season
Bethany Franks became the fourth player in Lady Bulldog program history to record 700 career rebounds after pulling down nine boards on Saturday at SAU
• Franks, who ranks sixth in the GAC with 7.8 rebounds per game, enters the weekend with 701 career rebounds to her credit, needing 10 to supplant Muriel Brown (710, 1990-94) for third place on the list
• SWOSU matched a season-low by scoring just 61 points at Southern Arkansas on Saturday, but the Lady Dawgs remain the highest-scoring team in the conference with 77.4 points per game for the year
Tyra Aska has knocked down two three pointers in three straight games, going 4-for-5 from long range in two games last weekend
• Aska is one of four Lady Bulldogs scoring in double figures with 10.7 points per game for the year while also ranking second on the team in steals (28) and third in assists (30)
Maddie Sperle fell to second on the team in scoring after being held to a combined six points on last week's Arkansas road trip and she enters this week averaging 14.3 points per game
Taber Beer scored 10 or more points in back-to-back games for the second time this season after scoring 16 at Arkansas-Monticello and 12 at Southern Arkansas
• Beer is totaling 9.1 points per game for the year while leading the Lady Bulldogs with 54 assists (4.5 per game) and her assist:turnover ratio of 1.6:1 ranks third among GAC players
• SWOSU has connected on at least five three pointers in each game this season and the Lady Dawgs lead the GAC with 113 total made three-pointers, an average of 9.4 per game
 
Looking Ahead
• SWOSU concludes their four-game home stand next weekend with conference matchups against Northwestern Oklahoma State (Thursday) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (Saturday)
• Following the home games, the Lady Dawgs make the road trip to Arkansas Tech (Jan. 23) and Harding (Jan. 25) before hosting Southern Arkansas (Jan. 30) to conclude the month of January
