SWOSU Women's Basketball will close out the regular season this week with an opportunity to secure its spot in the upcoming GAC Tournament. On Thursday, SWOSU will travel to Ada looking to complete the season sweep of the Tigers after earning a win in Weatherford earlier this year. Then on Saturday, the Lady Dawgs will host the Savage Storm for Senior Day, aiming to finish the regular season strong and lock in a postseason berth.
Last week, the Lady Bulldogs went a perfect 3-0 during a busy stretch, earning a road win over Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee before defeating both Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas at home. The impressive week improved SWOSU to 12-13 overall and 10-10 in GAC play.
With just two games remaining on the regular-season schedule, the Lady Dawgs are tied for sixth place in the conference with East Central. However, only one game separates fourth place from 10th in the tightly contested final stretch of the 2025-26 campaign.
SWOSU:
During their three-game winning streak, the Lady Dawgs have allowed just 51.3 points per game and have won by an average margin of 10 points. On the season, SWOSU is averaging 62.8 points per game offensively while allowing 63.4 points per contest on the defensive end.
From beyond the arc, the Lady Dawgs are shooting 28.7 percent, which ranks 11th in the conference, while opponents are shooting 33.2 percent from three-point range against the SWOSU defense. On the glass, the Lady Dawgs have been dominant, pulling down 38.8 rebounds per game, the second-best mark in the league.
Thursday: East Central
The Lady Dawgs opened the new year on January 3 with a narrow 61-60 victory over the Tigers, holding off a late push by ECU. SWOSU missed nine of its final 10 shots from the field and was held scoreless over the last 2:32, allowing the Tigers to pull within one possession and set up a dramatic finish. However, the Lady Dawgs' defense stood firm on the final sequence to secure the win.
ECU enters the week at 14-10 overall and matches SWOSU at 10-10 in conference play. In GAC competition, the two programs have met 58 times, with SWOSU holding a 36-22 advantage, including a 16-13 record in Ada. The Lady Bulldogs have won the last three meetings, with two of those decided by two points or fewer.
East Central owns the 11th-ranked offense in the GAC at 61.8 points per game but balances that with the second-best defense in the conference, allowing just 60.5 points per contest. The Tigers do most of their scoring inside the three-point line, averaging only 4.6 made threes per game, the lowest mark in the league.
Saturday: Southeastern
The first meeting between these two was a game of momentum swings. The Savage Storm jumped out to a 23-6 lead early in the first half, but coming out of the break, SWOSU dominated the third quarter 33-6, holding Southeastern to just 2-of-20 shooting from the field. After trailing by as many as 17, the Lady Dawgs built their lead to 22. Following the early 23-6 deficit, SWOSU responded with a 55-16 run over the next two quarters.
In conference play, the matchup has been nearly even, with SWOSU holding a slim 30-29 advantage. In Weatherford, the Lady Dawgs are 18-11. Southeastern is coming off a win over No. 10 Harding and enters the week at 14-12 overall and 11-9 in conference play, one game ahead of SWOSU in the standings.
The Savage Storm average nearly 70 points per game, the fifth-best mark in the conference, while allowing 66.8 points per contest defensively. They shoot 41.3 percent from the field, third in the GAC, and make 7.7 three-pointers per game, the second-most in the league.
