RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Basketball junior forward
Landry Allen continues to stack up Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, earning her ninth of the season, the league office announced Monday.
Allen has now been recognized in nine of the 14 weeks during the 2025-26 season. SWOSU has claimed 10 total weekly defensive honors this year, with
Elle Papahronis earning the first of the season back in November.
With the playoff race heating up, Allen helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a perfect 3-0 week, averaging 13 points, six rebounds, 4.3 blocks, and 3.3 steals in wins over Oklahoma Baptist, Arkansas-Monticello, and Southern Arkansas.
Allen opened the week with four blocks and three steals on the road against OKB. She followed that with six blocks and two steals against UAM on Thursday — her eighth game this season with at least six swats. On Saturday versus Southern Arkansas, Allen added three more blocks and five steals, her second-highest single-game steal total of the year, while posting an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double with all 10 boards coming on the defensive end.
Allen ranks second in NCAA Division II with 4.91 blocks per game. Within the GAC, she sits eighth in scoring (14.9 ppg), seventh in rebounding (6.7 rpg), and third in steals (2.2 spg).
SWOSU enters the final week of the regular season tied for sixth in the conference standings and will look to secure its postseason berth outright. The Lady Bulldogs close the regular season this week against East Central — currently tied with SWOSU in the standings — and Southeastern.
