CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Lady Bulldog standout senior
Gloria Choi has been selected to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Central Region team for the third consecutive season after the awards were announced on Monday night at a banquet prior to the Division II Women's Golf Championships in Florida.
The All-Region teams consist of the Top 10 players in each region and are selected by the WGCA Division II Awards Committee, with the winner of each regional tournament receiving an automatic selection.
A senior from Langley, British Columbia, Choi becomes SWOSU's first three-time All-Central Region selection, capping off a decorated four-year career in Weatherford. She's already a four-time First Team All-GAC selection and she was named an All-American by WGCA as a sophomore in 2017. This season, she has finished as the individual medalist at the NSU Classic in September and the Diffee Ford Invitational in March along with a top-five placing at the GAC Championships. Last week in Muskogee, Choi finished as the runner-up at the Central Regional Championships and helped her team claim the first Regional Championship in program history along with a second all-time berth in the NCAA Division II Championships.
With the selection, Choi now has three of SWOSU's seven All-Central Region selections to her credit, with previous honors going to
Ashlynn Hall (2013),
Ana Gomez (2014) and teammate
Elin Wahlin (2017, 2018).
SWOSU teed off on Tuesday morning in the opening round of the Division II Women's Golf Championships, an event being played at PGA National Resort – Champions Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
