LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – SWOSU Women's Golf competed at the SMSU Classic over Spring Break, finishing third as a team. The Lady Bulldogs closed the tournament with the lowest team round of any team in either round.
SWOSU's 290 team score in round two was 14 strokes better than the next closest team, allowing them to climb from fifth to third on the leaderboard.
Daniela Espinoza played a key role in that surge, firing an even-par 70 on Tuesday — a nine-shot improvement from Monday's opening round. Her score matched the lowest round of the tournament and led SWOSU on the day. She finished tied for sixth, her best placing of the season.
Freya Sala paced the Lady Bulldogs with a fifth-place finish, marking her fourth consecutive top-five finish this season. She improved by four strokes from round one to round two and finished one shot ahead of Espinoza. Sala's seven birdies led the field, and she topped the tournament in par-5 scoring at four-under across eight holes.
London Wilson recorded her best finish as a Lady Bulldog, tying for 12th. Like Sala, she improved by four strokes between rounds and played the back nine at one-over par during Tuesday's final round.
Maria Velilla also bounced back from a tough opening round, improving by 10 strokes on Tuesday. She recorded two birdies after not carding a score under par during her first 18 holes.
SWOSU will wrap up the regular season April 6-7 at the Spring Central Region Preview before competing in the 2026 Great American Conference Championships the following week, April 13-15.
