RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Golf senior Freya Sala has been named the Great American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
 
It marks Sala's first weekly conference honor of the season and the fourth of her career.
 
Sala was SWOSU's top finisher at the SMSU Classic, held at Wigwam Resort in Arizona. She placed fifth after carding rounds of 76 and 72, marking her fourth consecutive top-five finish. Sala's seven birdies led the field, and she topped the tournament in par-5 scoring at four-under across eight holes. The Lady Bulldogs finished third as a team — their fourth top-three finish of the season.
 
Through seven tournaments this year, Sala has not finished worse than seventh and currently ranks No. 5 in the Central Region with a 74.1 scoring average. SWOSU has one tournament remaining before the GAC Championships, set for April 13-15 in Tulsa.
