ATLANTA, Ga. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the 2019 NCAA Division II Coaches' All-America Team on Monday evening at a banquet preceding the Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio.
SWOSU's dynamic senior duo of
Hailey Tucker and
Hayden Priddy both earned a selection to the team, with Tucker claiming a spot on the 10-member First Team while Priddy garnered honorable mention. This is the second All-America selection of the day for each player, with Priddy previously being named First Team All-American by the
Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) while Tucker was a Third Team selection. They also become the first Lady Bulldogs to be chosen to the WBCA All-American Team since SWOSU became a member of NCAA Division II.
"I'm so blessed to be an All-American and represent the best university in the world," Tucker said of the selction. "My coaches and teammates put me in the absolute best position to be able to do great things for my team. I'm just so humbled and I feel so blessed right now. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey and supported us. We hope to keep it going!"
The WBCA presents the Player of the Year award annually to the top player in five of the six WBCA membership divisions (NCAA Divisions II, and III, NAIA, two-year college and high school). The Player of the Year and the 10-member Coaches' All-America team in each division are selected by a committee of WBCA member coaches in that division. The Wade Trophy is presented to the best player in NCAA Division I.
"Honestly, I'm just so humbled to be an All-American," Priddy said. "Going into SWOSU, it was one of my goals that I had talked about with my parents and something I had definitely dreamed about, but to actually get the award is another thing. I just don't know what else to say besides that I'm so happy and so thankful!"
SWOSU Women's Basketball will make their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on Tuesday (March 26), taking on Saint Anselm at 1:30 pm (CST) in Columbus, Ohio. For those unable to attend, a
Watch Party is scheduled at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford beginning at 1:00 pm.
