RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – On the eve of the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their All-American selections, as voted on by Sports Information Directors from institutions and conference offices.
For the first time as an NCAA Division II institution, SWOSU was represented by two individuals on the D2CCA All-America teams as
Hayden Priddy was named to the First Team while
Hailey Tucker earned a selection to the Third Team. The duo becomes the Lady Bulldogs second and third D2CCA All-Americans of the Division II era, which dates back to 1997.
Priddy (Piedmont, Okla.) claims the first All-America honor of her career after previously being named the Great American Conference and Central Region Player of the Year. Most recently, Priddy was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Central Regional Championships following a season-high 32 points in the regional championship victory over Fort Hays State. This season, she ranks second on the team with 17.4 points per game while leading the GAC with 85 made three-pointers, shooting 39.4% (85-216) from beyond the arc. Priddy is SWOSU's all-time leader in assists (486) and steals (171) while currently ranking fourth in school history with 1,824 points heading into the Elite Eight.
Tucker (Bartlesville, Okla.) picks up her second All-America honor of the postseason and seventh of her career after being named to the D2CCA All-America Team for the second straight season. As a senior, Tucker became the second player in school history to score more than 2,000 career points while also becoming the GAC's all-time leading scorer and she's SWOSU's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 270. She is the most decorated player at SWOSU in the NCAA Division II era as a four-time First Team All-GAC selection, two-time GAC Player of the Year, two-time Academic All-American, three-time All-Central Region selection and the 2018 Central Region Player of the Year.
"The legacy that Hayden and Hailey have left on our program is one for the record books and that is exactly where their names will remain," SWOSU Head Coach
Kelsi Musick said of her star duo. "They have been vital in our program's rise in success and they've allowed us to continue to get great recruits because they are not only great basketball players, but great students and young women as well. To be a part of their four-year career is something every coach dreams of and I am so proud of them!"
The standout careers of Priddy and Tucker will culminate on NCAA Division II's biggest stage as they have led their team to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the first time in program history. SWOSU will face Saint Anselm on Tuesday (March 26) at 1:30 pm (CST) in Columbus, Ohio in the national quarterfinals.
