BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf wrapped up the GAC Championship on Tuesday afternoon, securing a fourth-place finish behind two top-10 individual performances.
Arkansas Tech won the team title by six strokes over nationally ranked No. 19 Harding, which placed runner-up. Southern Arkansas took home the third-place spot after shooting +28 over the three-day event, one stroke better than SWOSU on the week.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora earned his second third-place finish of the year after going 72-72-74 on the week to finish at two over par. He carded three birdies in each round while adding an eagle in his final round to help offset his lone double bogey of the week. Over the tournament, he played holes nine and 18 six times, going 7 under on those holes.
Ryan Carlisle started his week at five over through his first four holes. Over his final 50 holes across the three rounds, he went just one over the rest of the way, with no score worse than a bogey. After his opening-round 77, he followed with rounds of 72-73 over the final two days, which featured six birdies. The T-7 finish is the second-best of the season for Carlisle, behind the Hillcat Classic, where SWOSU took home the top spot. He played the 12 par 3s on the course at three under for the week, the best mark of any competitor in the field.
Ben Jackson collected 12 birdies on the week, the most of any Bulldog in the tournament and the second-most of any golfer in the field. His rounds went 75-73-80, with his low round of 73 featuring six birdies. The GAC Freshman of the Year ended the week T-27 for his fifth top-30 finish of the season.
Sawyer Burleson posted three consistent rounds of 75-77-77 with six birdies and an eagle on the par-5 18th on day two. His 30th-place finish is the second-best of the year for Burleson.
Samuel Moran wrapped up the Bulldog lineup, going 79-75-78. He birdied the par-5 ninth in each round while collecting six birdies across the final two days.
With the final scheduled tournament complete, the Dawgs now await to see if they are selected for the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional field set to be announced April 26. Should SWOSU be selected, they would compete May 7-9 in Big Rapids, Michigan. The Bulldogs entered the tournament ranked just outside of the cutoff to qualify.
