MAYETTA, Kan. – SWOSU Men's Golf competed in the Firekeeper Open, hosted by Washburn over the last two days, where they finished 16th.
No. 7-ranked Central Oklahoma took home the team title as the only team to finish the week under par at -9. Host Washburn followed at +4 over the two days, with Central Missouri rounding out the top three at +10.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora led the Dawgs thanks to an even-par 72, which featured an eagle on the par-five fourth hole and a birdie right after on the fifth. He had seven holes with under-par scores on the week and had nothing worse than a bogey on his card while improving his score each round.
Sawyer Burleson finished just one stroke behind the top Dawg as he went +7 over the three rounds, showing consistency with rounds of 74-75-74 while posting three birdies in each round he played.
Samuel Moran ended at +15 with four birdies. In his best round, a 76 in the second 18, he recorded an eagle on the same hole as Diaz Ermacora did a day later.
Ryan Carlisle and
Ben Jackson rounded out the group. Carlisle improved his card each round, finishing with a 77 that included a birdie. Jackson had an opening-day eagle on, once again, the same hole as the previous two eagles mentioned, along with three birdies in round two.
The Dawgs will compete at the GAC Championship from April 19-21 in Broken Arrow at Forest Ridge G.C.
