WICHITA FALLS, Texas – SWOSU Men's Golf placed eighth at the Midwestern State Invitational, which concluded Tuesday.
Texas-Permian Basin claimed the team title by six strokes over Odessa College, while UTPB's Will Tate earned medalist honors at 10-under par.
The 18-team field featured a mix of Division II programs and junior colleges, with 10 teams holding national rankings according to Clippd Scoreboard. SWOSU finished ahead of four ranked teams.
Ben Jackson paced the Bulldogs with a tie for 17th place. He opened with a 73 before closing with back-to-back even-par rounds of 71. Jackson eagled the opening hole in round two and totaled seven birdies over his final 36 holes. He also finished at 5-under on par-5s, the best mark among the field.
Ryan Carlisle posted SWOSU's lowest round of the tournament with a final-round 69 (-2), climbing 17 spots on the leaderboard. He played both nines at one-under, recording three birdies and two bogeys. Carlisle carded an even-par 71 in round two and finished with 41 holes at even par, the second-most in the field.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora (T-42) turned in his best round in Monday's second round with an even-par 71.
Samuel Moran (T-61) posted rounds of 74-77-74. A double bogey on the final hole of round one offset an otherwise steady opening round that included two birdies. He added another birdie in round two.
Sawyer Burleson (T-79) rounded out the lineup. His best round came in round two with a 74, highlighted by 12 pars and one birdie.
SWOSU will wrap up the regular season April 6-7 at the Firekeeper Open in Kansas before competing at the Great American Conference Championships April 19-21.
