SWOSU Women's Basketball looks to build on its one-point win last week as Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist come to Weatherford to continue the Lady Bulldogs' homestand.

The Lady Dawgs held off a late push from the Tigers last Thursday to open the new year with a win. At home, SWOSU is 4-2 and has two more chances this week to climb the GAC standings. They currently sit at 3-3 in conference play, part of a crowded pack of eight teams sitting at either 3-3 or 4-2 that stretches from second to ninth place in the league.

Henderson State has received votes in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Poll and enters at 8-2 overall with a 4-2 mark in conference play. The Reddies have leaned on a high-powered offense that averages more than 75 points per game, which ranks second in the GAC. They get there in part by shooting a conference-best 37 percent from three, a number that also ranks among the top eight in the nation. The Reddies also will bring in the conference's leading scorer with Natalie Cardenas at 20.3 PPG, which is a top 15 mark in the country.

Ouachita Baptist opened the season 6-1 but has dropped its last three games, including a 28-point loss to Arkansas Tech in which the Tigers allowed a season-high 99 points. The road does not get easier, as they face No. 15 Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday before traveling to Weatherford to close out the week. Two-time GAC honorable mention selection Madeleine Tipton leads the Tigers, averaging 16.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

SWOSU has historically fared well against both opponents. Against Henderson State, the Lady Dawgs are 21-10 in the D2 era and 11-2 at home - though both home losses have come in the last three seasons. Against Ouachita Baptist in that same span, SWOSU holds a 26-9 record and is nearly perfect in Weatherford at 16-1. The Lady Bulldogs have won their last 13 games against the Tigers in Weatherford.

SWOSU is averaging 62.4 points per game, which ranks ninth in the GAC, while allowing 62.6 points per contest on defense for the sixth-best mark in the league. The Lady Bulldogs have struggled shooting the ball, sitting in the bottom three in the conference in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, and free throw percentage. On the glass, however, SWOSU ranks near the top, collecting 39.7 rebounds per game and 13.5 offensive boards, both second in the GAC behind Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Landry Allen continues to anchor the lineup. She is averaging a team-high 13.8 points along with 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals, while protecting the rim with 4.1 blocks per game, the third-best mark in Division II. Allen has earned GAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in four of the first seven weeks, already matching the total claimed by any player during last year's inaugural season for the award, and the season has not yet reached the halfway point. She has recorded at least five blocks in three straight games.

Sincere Jackson is adding 13.6 points per game on 49.2 percent shooting, which ranks tenth in the conference. She also pulls down 6.6 rebounds per game and has made 28 free throws on the year while shooting 71.8 percent at the line.
