Landry Allen Named GAC Defensive POTW

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Basketball junior forward Landry Allen earned her sixth Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, the conference office announced Monday.

Despite SWOSU's loss to No. 25-ranked Northwestern, Allen continued to anchor the Lady Bulldogs defensively. She blocked six shots — tied for her second-most in a game this season — and added three steals while also pulling down six defensive rebounds against the Lady Rangers. Allen has now recorded at least four blocks in seven consecutive games and has posted multiple steals in six of her last seven contests.

On the season, Allen ranks seventh in the Great American Conference in scoring at 14.8 points per game, eighth in rebounding at 6.9 rebounds per game, and fourth in steals at 2.1 per game. Nationally, her 4.29 blocks per game rank second across all of Division II.

Allen has claimed six of the league's 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. This week also marked her first time being named a co-Defensive Player of the Week, as she shared the honor with Southern Arkansas' Elena Lijo-Rodriguez.
