RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Basketball junior forward
Landry Allen earned her fifth Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, the conference office announced Monday.
With the selection, Allen now holds the most weekly defensive honors in a single season since the GAC began issuing Defensive Player of the Week awards last year.
Allen stuffed the stat sheet during SWOSU's 1-1 Arkansas road trip, totaling 10 defensive rebounds, nine blocks, and four steals across two games. She has now recorded at least four blocks in six straight games — all GAC contests — and has produced at least two steals in eight games this season, including both outings last week. In SWOSU's 71-66 overtime win at Southern Arkansas, Allen also scored 21 points, her second-highest scoring total of the season.
Allen ranks 10th in the GAC in scoring (14.3 points per game), seventh in rebounding (6.9 rebounds per game), and fourth in steals (2.1 per game). Nationally, her 4.08 blocks per game ranks fourth across Division II.
