After a successful four-game homestand that saw SWOSU win three of four, the Lady Bulldogs now sit 13-11 overall and 9-9 in the Great American Conference, currently tied for the fifth spot in the conference rankings with four games remaining in the regular season. They will now head to Arkansas for the final time this regular season to face two teams they have already beaten, Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas.
Both games were been rescheduled to Friday/Sunday due to winter weather in the area.
In their first matchup, SWOSU took down Arkansas-Monticello (10-14, 5-13 GAC) by 15 points, led by
Averi Zinn's 16-point performance. The Blossoms are led by Bailey Harris, who averages 14.2 points per game. As a team, they have the sixth-ranked scoring offense, averaging 63.5 points per game, while allowing 65.7 points per game to opposing offenses.
SWOSU holds a commanding 21-5 record against Arkansas-Monticello since 2012, including a 9-3 record at the Blossoms' home arena.
Against Southern Arkansas (12-12, 7-11 GAC) earlier this season, the Lady Bulldogs limited the Mulerider offense to just 47 points, securing an eight-point win. SAU is led by Tequaza Chambers, who averages 14.1 points per game, and Addy Tremie, who adds 11.2 points per game. The Muleriders boast the highest field goal percentage in the conference at 43.7% and have the fifth-ranked offense, averaging over 66 points per game.
Since 2012, SWOSU has controlled the series, holding a 21-4 advantage over Southern Arkansas. However, the Lady Bulldogs have lost their last two games in Magnolia and three of their last four.
Averi Zinn leads the team with 11.3 points per game and her 1.8 steals per game is sixth in the GAC.
Layni Zinn (9.8 ppg) is second on the team in scoring and is fourth in the conference with her 41% three point percentage.
Hailey Grant (9.6 ppg) nearly mirrors Layni in scoring and has 26 blocked shots in 24 games this season, ranked fifth in the league.
SWOSU boasts the second-ranked defense in the league, allowing only 59.8 points per game, and uses their turnover margin to stifle opponents' offenses with a +6.71 turnover margin. The Lady Bulldogs force more than 19 turnovers a game, 18 on the road, and have turned over opponents 20 or more times 12 times this season. Four of those 20+ turnover games came on the road.
