SWOSU Women's Basketball has one final test in 2025 as it faces Southeastern in Durant on Thursday night, looking for its second conference win of the season.
The Lady Dawgs are 3-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play after the opening two weeks of GAC action. Away from home, SWOSU is 0-4 and has lost each game by an average of nine points. Last week, the Lady Dawgs defeated OBU at home before falling to SNU after allowing 30 points in the final quarter, which allowed the Crimson Storm to pull away for the win.
The Savage Storm went 3-3 in nonconference play before dropping their first four GAC games by a combined 63 points, largely in part to a 33-point loss to Henderson State in the league opener. All-time, the series is deadlocked at 31 wins apiece, but Southeastern has won the last four meetings, including eliminating the Lady Dawgs in the opening round of the GAC Tournament last season. In Durant, Southeastern holds an 18-11 advantage in the series.
Tori Kilburn and Kenzli Warden lead the Savage Storm offensive attack. Kilburn averages 16.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games, including three 20-point performances. Warden adds 16.0 points per game and is coming off a season-high 27-point outing against Oklahoma Baptist, where she also pulled down 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. The duo ranks among the top six scorers in the GAC this year.
Landry Allen has continued her impressive season, earning her third GAC Defensive Player of the Week honor last week after combining for 14 blocks and steals across two games. She ranks among the top 10 in the conference in several statistical categories, averaging 14.3 points per game, eighth in the GAC, 7.1 rebounds per game, sixth, 3.9 blocks per game, first in the conference and third nationally, and 2.2 steals per game, fourth in the league.
Elle Papahronis returned from injury last week and delivered two of her best performances of the season, averaging 18 points per game with 11.5 rebounds and two steals per contest. On the year, she is averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds per game, second in the conference, along with 2.8 steals per game, which is tied for the league lead.
Sincere Jackson adds 13.9 points each game with 6.4 rebounds.
SWOSU averages 61.1 points per game compared to 70.6 for Southeastern. The two teams rank 10th and 11th in the conference in scoring margin. Defensively, Southeastern owns the worst defense in the conference, allowing 71.6 points per game.
