RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU's
Elle Papahronis has been named the first Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week of the 2025-26 season, the league office announced Monday.
Papahronis is the first Lady Bulldog to earn the GAC's defensive weekly honor since the award was introduced in 2024-25, and the first SWOSU player to receive any conference weekly recognition since January 2023.
She opened her Bulldog career with seven total steals across two games, highlighted by a six-steal performance against Northeastern State. Papahronis also posted back-to-back double-digit rebounding efforts and averaged 12.5 boards for the week.
SWOSU began the season 1-1 and continues its home stand Wednesday (Nov. 19) against Missouri Southern in its lone game of the week.
