WICHITA, Kan. – SWOSU Track & Field competed in its largest field of the season at the Friends University Spring Invitational last Thursday through Saturday, landing seven inside the top-10 in various events including a pair of program records from
Natesa Ford and
Deuna Miller.
Miller adds her name to the top of a second program list, this time in the long jump, after setting a new 5.56m mark on Friday. She now sits atop SWOSU's 100m and long jump list. In the meet, she finished ninth in the 100m and fourth in long jump.
Ford snapped SWOSU's previous program record in the hammer throw by over two meters after her 46.71m throw on Thursday. She finished fifth overall in the event while also competing in discus and shot put.
The Dawgs had other successes in field events.
Torri Tottress set a new personal record of 12.35m in shot put and placed fourth.
Marleigh West was fifth in discus and ninth in shot.
Jaci Shelton was 10th in shot – also a PR.
In total, nine Bulldogs set new PRs on the weekend.
SWOSU has one meet remaining in the regular season. They'll compete at the Ford Mastin Twilight, hosted by Oklahoma Baptist, on April 20 as a final tune up leading into the GAC Championships at the start of May.
