The Lady Bulldogs will make the trip across state lines to Arkansas for the final time this season. They go to Arkadelphia for a Thursday matchup with Ouachita Baptist and a Saturday game with Henderson State.
Ouachita Baptist heads into the game 7-11 and 5-9 in the GAC. The Tigers are on a slide, dropping their last five contests and eight of their last nine. Over the last 13 meetings the Lady Dawgs have won 12 of them, only dropping last year's visit to Arkadelphia in that span. SWOSU got the better of Ouachita in the first game this year, winning 66-55 on January 13.
Ouachita has diversity on the offensive end, as 11 players on their roster have logged a double digit scoring game this year. Laney Mears put up 22 points and made four threes for OBU in the January 13 game.
Henderson State is 13-7 overall and 9-5 in conference. SWOSU has lost three straight against Henderson State. The Reddies, winners of five out of their six, will host No. 18 Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night.
SWOSU is looking to avenge their 78-71 loss earlier in the season to HSU. The Lady Bulldogs will have to slow down one of the top scoring offenses in the GAC. The Reddies' 8.6 three-pointers per game tops the league and their 73.1 points per game ranks second.
SWOSU goes into the Arkansas road trip at 12-8 with a three-game winning streak. Their 9-5 conference record slots SWOSU into a tie for fourth place with Henderson State.
Last Thursday, the Lady Dawgs beat Arkansas-Monticello 59-53. A hot start on defense got SWOSU out to an early 13 point first quarter lead, but back to back single digit point quarters had them down six after three quarters. Down by as much as 12 in the final period, the Lady Bulldogs pulled off the fourth quarter comeback to win.
Against Southern Arkansas, SWOSU hit four threes and held SAU to zero points in the first three minutes to go up 12-0 early. Over the course of the game, they forced 26 Mulerider turnovers for 20 points off turnovers, which proved to be the difference in the 66-58 victory.
Averi Zinn set and tied a career high last week. She dished out eight assists against UAM and SAU, while holding a 2.0 assist to turnover ratio in both games.
Chloe Cantrell will look to replicate the career night she had the last time out against Ouachita Baptist when she scored 16 points and hit four three-pointers.
Henderson State shot the lights out in Weatherford against SWOSU. They 54% of their shots, the highest field goal percentage the Lady Dawgs have allowed this season.
SWOSU was on the other end of a blazing shooting night versus the Tigers at home, shooting a season high 44% from beyond the arc on January 13.
