RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following Freya Sala's top finish at the NSU Women's Classic on Tuesday, the Great American Conference has announced her as the Women's Golfer of the Week.
It's the first such honor that any Lady Bulldog has received in the young 2023-24 season and the first of Sala's career at SWOSU.
Sala (Mexico City, Mexico) shot below par in both of her rounds this week. On Monday she finished one-under with a 71 and followed that up in her final round by shaving an additional stroke off for a score of 70. For the tournament, she was three-under par with eight birdies including an exhilarating birdie on her final hole to regain a tie for first place on the leaderboard.
SWOSU Women's Golf went on to win the team tournament championship at the NSU Classic – their first event victory since 2019. They'll be back in action two weeks from now, September 25-26, at the NCAA Regional Preview in Bartlesville, Oklahoma hosted by Rogers State.
