WINONA, Minn. – SWOSU Men's Golf had its season come to an end over the weekend after wrapping up play at the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional where the Bulldogs finished tied for 13th overall.
SWOSU was in the mix after the opening round thanks to a two-under 69 from
Conner Boydston and a one-over 72 from
Cameron Gallagher. They sat just one stroke behind the magic sixth spot – the spot all teams aim for to be able to qualify for the National Championship Tournament – heading into day two. Boydston sat inside the top-5 after his strong opening round.
SWOSU added 10 strokes to its second-round total and despite shaving eight strokes off in round three, was still too far down the leaderboard to get back into contention.
Anders Strand rebounded in the third round to card an even par-71 as his best showing of the tournament.
Lukas Hendricks followed suit by firing a 73 (+1) on Saturday.
Grand Valley State won the event by 18 strokes followed by a close second through sixth place that finished, in order, like this: Missouri S&T, Maryville, Washburn, Southern Arkansas, and Harding.
Fellow GAC foes Harding and Southern Arkansas both edged out nationally ranked Henderson State for the final two spots after playoff holes were required to finalize placings. Ethan Wilkins of HSU was one of two individual qualifiers to continue competing.
It was the 10th consecutive season the Bulldogs have qualified for the national tournament and an improvement of four placings from a year ago (finished 17
th in 2022).
