WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The rodeo team hosted the 50th Annual SWOSU Rodeo last Thursday-Saturday where the men's team finished second and the women placed third.
Winners on the weekend included
Hunter Tate and
Marley Berger. Tate rode both bulls he got on top of, with an 80-point ride in the long round and 84 points in the short round. He was the only cowboy to ride both bulls on the weekend. Berger showed out in Tie Down Roping with a clean sweep of first place in both rounds by clocking times of 9.4 and 9.2 seconds.
Meanwhile,
Libby Berger won Saturday's short round in Barrel Racing when she posted the fastest time of the entire rodeo at 16.68 seconds. She went on to finish third in the average.
Despite Berger's fast short round, teammate
Hadley Tate finished just barely above her in the average in second place overall. The duo's pair of round totals were separated by just .01 of a second.
SWOSU's rough stock riders had a great showing this weekend outside of just Tate. Saddle Bronc saw three Bulldogs finish in the top-5 after
Brody McAbee,
Tanner Edwards, and
Tim Troyer all rode both of their bronchos.
The Bulldogs have two rodeos remaining on the schedule. SWOSU heads to Fort Hays, Kansas this upcoming weekend and will close out the season at the Panhandle State rodeo at the end of April. After the successful weekend, the men's team jumps ino third in the Central Plains Region rankings while the women continue to lead the way in first.
