GARDEN CITY, Kan. – SWOSU Women's Rodeo continued its dominant run over the weekend, capturing its fifth consecutive team title at the Garden City CC Rodeo. The men's team placed ninth.
Cheyenne VandeStouwe led the way, winning the Goat Tying average after taking first in the short round with a 6.0-second run.
VandeStouwe was one of eight SWOSU competitors to qualify for the short round — five from the women's team (VandeStouwe,
Kari Hepper,
Reagan McIntyre,
Greeley Eastep, and
Braylee Ward) and three from the men's side (
Bob Walter,
Heston Harrison, and
Brandt O'Connor).
In Barrel Racing,
Braylee Ward posted a 13.67-second run in the short round to finish third in the round and tied for sixth in the average.
Kari Hepper placed fifth in the Breakaway average, highlighted by a 3.0-second run to tie for third in the short round.
Greeley Eastep and
Reagan McIntyre delivered nearly identical performances in Goat Tying, finishing fifth and sixth in the average, respectively, with Eastep edging McIntyre by a tenth of a second in the short round.
On the men's side,
Brandt O'Connor teamed with a roper from Garden City to finish second in the Team Roping average after posting a 6.1-second run in the short go.
Heston Harrison recorded scores of 70 and 76 in Saddle Bronc, placing sixth in both rounds and the average.
Bob Walter placed fifth in the Bareback long round with a 73 but did not record a score in the short round.
With the victory, SWOSU Women's Rodeo has now won five straight events. A sixth consecutive win would come at the 53rd Annual SWOSU Rodeo, scheduled for April 9-11 in Weatherford. The Lady Bulldogs last won their home rodeo in 2024, before that 2014.
Three rodeos remain in the 2025-26 regular season.
