EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf finished third overall at the Broncho Invitational held locally in the OKC metro at Rose Creek Golf Club. It's the second consecutive third place finish this spring and the third time they've been inside the top-3 this season.
Central Oklahoma, the tournament's host, edged Northeastern State by two strokes to win the event. SWOSU sat third, ahead of fellow GAC school Harding in fourth. The Bulldogs were one of five GAC teams in the field and finished with the highest placing.
Anders Strand led the team with the lowest score of any team member in two of the three rounds in the tournament. He finished tied for ninth and has been inside the top-10 in every event this spring.
His best 18 holes came in Monday's opening round when he carded a one-over par 73. In Tuesday's final round, Strand finished at three-under through the front nine but holes 10-12 and 14 gave him trouble which balanced his scorecard. He finished at 75 (+3) as one of three Dawgs to card 75s in the round.
Conner Boydston finished directly behind Strand, just one shot back. He matched Strand's first (73, +1) and third (75, +3) round totals but had one extra shot in round two and finished tied for 13th overall.
That second round was where Max Bialy ran into trouble. Bialy was right in the mix with Strand and Boydston in both the opening and closing rounds, but an 81 in round two pushed him back on the leaderboard.
Rounding out the team was
Lukas Hendricks (T40) and
Cameron Gallagher (T53). Hendricks parred the most holes, 34 out of 54, of any player in the tournament.
SWOSU now has just one more tournament to play in before the Great American Conference Championships in late April. They'll travel to Warrensburg, Missouri two weeks from now to play in The Mule before shifting focus to the conference tournament.
