SPRING, Texas – SWOSU women's golf team competed in their first tournament of the spring season this week. They made the trip down to Spring to play in the Southern Invite at Cypresswood Golf Course, where they placed 13th as a team.
Dallas Baptist won the event at +15. West Texas A&M found themselves in second. Henderson State finished in bronze to round out the top three.
SWOSU saw a good deal of improvement throughout the three rounds of play with
Rebecca Lau,
Megan Brown, and
Faustina Pergolini all lowering their scores in every round.
Rebecca Lau picked up right where she left off in 2022, leading SWOSU on the leaderboard. She ended the tournament at +12 and T-28. She now has five top finishes for the Lady Bulldogs in six tournaments this school year.
Megan Brown's improvement from round one to round two was the second-best round correction of the entire tournament. She went from shooting an 86 to a 77 in round two. This is a good sign for the 2022 First Team All-GAC golfer, and the team overall, after she missed the fall season.
SWOSU will look to build upon this performance in their next tournament. It will be the Diffee Ford/Lincoln Invitational in Oklahoma City on March 6-7.
