Game Preview

• SWOSU Women’s Basketball is set for an in-state showdown in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament, with Southern Nazarene coming to town on Friday night with a berth in the Championship Game on the line

• The Lady Bulldogs, ranked #16 in the latest WBCA Poll and #24 in the D2SIDA Media Poll, advanced to the semifinals with an 89-66 victory over Ouachita on Wednesday evening while SNU moved into the semifinals due to conference COVID-19 protocols 

• Wednesday night’s victory was SWOSU’s 17th of the season, their first against a team from outside the state of Oklahoma, but now they will be pitted against SNU for the fifth time this season

• The Lady Dawgs went 3-1 against the Crimson Storm this season, including a 71-60 victory on Senior Day, their last meeting on February 25th

• By order of the Great American Conference Council of Presidents, the limited guest list which has been in effect since February 1st will remain as the only attendance permitted during the GAC Tournament

SWOSU Notes

• SWOSU and Southern Nazarene have met once prior in the GAC Tournament, a 93-75 victory by the Lady Dawgs in the quarterfinals of the event in 2017

• Wednesday’s victory was SWOSU’s 16th all-time in the GAC Tournament, which is the second-most wins of any conference program at the event

• SWOSU has now advanced to the semifinals of the GAC Tournament eight times in 10 seasons and they are 5-2 in prior trips to the semifinals, most recently a 70-42 victory over Harding en route to the 2019 GAC Tournament title

• Leading the way for SWOSU on Wednesday night was Karly Gore, a Second Team All-GAC selection, who set new career-highs with 26 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Ouachita

• SWOSU got a combined 82 points from the starting lineup against Ouachita, with each player scoring at least 11 points while four of the five had at least eight rebounds in the win

• 2021 GAC Player of the Year Makyra Tramble had a loaded stat sheet in the Quarterfinals with 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and one blocked shot in 33 minutes of action 

• The third Lady Bulldog to earn all-conference honors, Honorable Mention selection Bethany Franks, had 15 points and eight rebounds while knocking down 3-of-6 three-point field goals against the Tigers

• Franks, who was named the GAC Tournament MVP in 2019, is SWOSU’s all-time leader in steals and added two to her career total, which now sits at 293 and is the most of any active player in NCAA Division II

• Lauren Ramey extended her streak of double-digit scoring games to six consecutive games and nine of the last 10 after scoring 11 points with nine rebounds against Ouachita

• Macy Gore had an all-around performance as well on Wednesday, scoring 12 points in addition to five assists, four rebounds and three steals
