Game Preview

• The Pioneer Cellular Event Center will play host to an NCAA Division II postseason game for the first time on Wednesday evening when the SWOSU Women’s Basketball team hosts Ouachita in the quarterfinals of the Great American Conference Tournament

• SWOSU won the GAC’s Western Division to earn the top seed on their side of the bracket and hosting rights for the quarterfinals while Ouachita defeated Southern Arkansas 85-84 on Monday night in the opening round to advance

• The Lady Bulldogs enter the postseason with a record of 16-2 and ranked #16 in the latest Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 and #24 in the D2SIDA Media Poll

• SWOSU is appearing in the GAC Tournament for the 10th consecutive season and the Lady Dawgs are 15-6 all-time at the tournament, including a record of 7-2 in the quarterfinals

• By order of the Great American Conference Council of Presidents, the limited guest list which has been in effect since February 1st will remain as the only attendance permitted during the GAC Tournament

SWOSU Notes

• SWOSU will be facing Ouachita in the GAC Tournament for the second time, the first coming in the inaugural tournament, which saw the Lady Bulldogs defeat the Tigers 83-67 in the semifinals on their way to the 2012 GAC Tournament Championship

• The Lady Bulldogs are 15-6 all-time in the GAC Tournament for the second-most wins of any conference team, and SWOSU is tied with Arkansas Tech for the most championships with three

• Last season, SWOSU fell in the quarterfinals for just the second time, dropping a 63-55 decision to Arkansas-Monticello

• The Great American Conference announced postseason awards on Tuesday and SWOSU had three individuals earn recognition, led by 2020-21 GAC Player of the Year Makyra Tramble

• Tramble has had a magnificent sophomore season that saw her earn four GAC Player of the Week awards and she enters the postseason as the league’s leader in scoring, rebounding, steals and three-point field goals made

• Tramble is joined on the All-GAC Team by Karly Gore, a Second Team All-GAC selection after averaging 14.6 points per game during the regular season

• Bethany Franks received Honorable Mention for the third straight season after averaging 11.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for the Lady Bulldogs this year

• Franks, who was named the GAC Tournament MVP in 2019, is SWOSU’s all-time leader in steals with 291 and she recently passed former teammate Hailey Tucker for second place on the all-time rebounding list with 937

• Lauren Ramey has scored 10 or more points in five straight games and eight of the last nine, raising her season average to 11.2 points per game 

• Taber Beer moved into fourth place on SWOSU’s all-time assist list on Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist and she’s dished out at least four assists in six straight games

• Macy Gore had a career-high nine assists on Saturday in the Lady Dawgs win at OBU
