HAYS, Kan. – The penultimate event on the Central Plains Region schedule took the SWOSU Rodeo teams to the Fort Hays State Rodeo over the weekend in Kansas, where the Bulldog women's team finished in fourth place while the men took sixth.
For the second consecutive rodeo, top finishers for the Bulldogs included
Shanna Simmons (Barrel Racing) and
Nathan Hatchel (Bull Riding), who both took fourth place in the average of their events. Hatchel was edged by teammate
Cody Keathly, who finished third in the average of Bull Riding with qualified rides for scores of 75 and 76 points, respectively.
Winter Williams added a top-10 finish in Breakaway Roping for the Bulldogs.
"I appreciate the drive of our team," SWOSU Head Coach
Mike Visnieski said. "We had some finish really well and a few more that were really close to making a statement. They are excited to compete at Guymon and ready to finish strong."
The final rodeo on the circuit is coming up this weekend as the Bulldogs travel to Guymon to compete at the Panhandle State Rodeo on Thursday-Saturday.
