WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Weather conditions were far from ideal on Saturday evening, but that didn't stop the cowboys and cowgirls who descended upon Weatherford for the 47th Annual SWOSU Rodeo from putting on a show for the fans in attendance.
Behind top performances from
Shanna Simmons in Barrel Racing and
Nathan Hatchel in Bull Riding, the SWOSU Rodeo teams came away with finishes of third (women's team) and fifth (men's team) at their home event.
"The team did well, winning five round of the overall competition and placing in a few more," SWOSU Head Coach
Mike Visnieski said after the event. "
Shanna Simmons and Pac Man were outstanding and
Nathan Hatchel rode like the champ that he is. The Rodeo ran really smooth thanks to our team, the Athletic Department, our hired personnel, stock contractors and volunteers. Thank You to our sponsors and fans for their support and to everyone who lent a hand in making this another successful rodeo. It is our goal to provide the City of Weatherford an event that has a positive economic impact that can be enjoyed by all!"
Next up for the SWOSU Rodeo team is a trip to Hays, Kansas, to compete at the Fort Hays State NIRA Rodeo this weekend, beginning on Friday night and continuing through Sunday.
