2025 College National Finals Marks End of SWOSU Rodeo Season

CASPER, Wyo. – The 2024-25 SWOSU rodeo season came to a close over the weekend at the 2025 College National Finals. The SWOSU women's team, consisting of Hadley Teut, Cheyenne VandeStouwe, Chenoa VandeStouwe, and Braylee Ward, finished 22nd with 78.3 accumulated points, marking their fifth consecutive year competing at the CNFR.

SWOSU's lone cowboy, Dustin Sanchez, scored 79.5 points in the third-round bull riding but narrowly missed qualifying for the short round by half a point. Despite this, Sanchez secured a successful eight-second ride in Wyoming, one of 14 out of 35 competitors to do so. This marked his third straight CNFR qualification.

Two SWOSU cowgirls qualified for the short round in their second CNFR appearance. Cheyenne VandeStouwe excelled in goat tying, finishing sixth overall after clocking times of 6.8, 6.3, and 7.3 seconds in the first three rounds. She then matched her fastest time of the season with a 6.1-second run in the short round, placing second in that round and propelling her to sixth overall.

Braylee Ward finished 12th overall in barrel racing after consistently shaving off time in each of her first three rounds (14.91, 14.56, 14.37) to qualify for the short go-round. A 14.52-second ride in the final round secured her 12th place.

In addition to goat tying, Cheyenne VandeStouwe competed in breakaway roping at the CNFR. However, a no-time in the second round eliminated her chance at short-round qualification. She posted times of 3.2 and 3.8 seconds in rounds one and three, finishing 25th overall.

Chenoa VandeStouwe tied her sister's opening-round time in goat tying with 6.8 seconds and clocked a 7.1 in round two. A 9.6-second run in the third round dropped her to a tie for 25th in the event, marking her first national finals appearance.

Hadley Teut's first-round no-time set her back, but she rebounded with 6.7 and 7.3-second times in goat tying to complete her first national finals appearance.

Under head coach Mike Visnieski, who took over the program in 2011-12, the SWOSU women's team has now qualified for the national finals eight times.
