SWOSU has Two Win Rounds at 52nd Annual Home Rodeo

WEATHERFORD – The Bulldogs concluded the 52nd edition of SWOSU Rodeo over the weekend where the women finished third and the men finished fourth. Two from the team earned round wins – Levi Parker and Cheyenne VandeStouwe – with Parker taking home the average title as well in his event.

Parker was consistent all weekend in Team Roping. He and his partner from NEO roped times of 6.2 seconds in the long round, good for second, and 6.1 seconds in the short go which won the round. He highlighted the SWOSU men's side that saw four finishes inside the top 5 of the average in various events.

VandeStouwe clocked a 7.4 second time in Goat Tying's slack to win the long round. She was an 8.4 in the short go and finished second in the average.

Kale Visnieski was one of two bull riders to log two eight second rides in the rodeo. He was 130 points on two head (63, 67 pts) and finished second in the average.

Brody McAbee's 77-point ride in the Saddle Bronc short round put him third in the round and in the average. Heston Harrison scored a 74-point ride in the long round before getting bucked off on his re-ride in the short go on Saturday night.

Despite a slower time in the Steer Wrestling short round, Wyatt Bentz jumped to a fourth-place finish in the average. Bentz had a 6.2 second time in the long round before his 7.4 in the short go.

Hadley Tate matched VandeStouwe's average finish in Barrel Racing. Tate had a 16.15 second ride (third place) in the long round before a 16.11 in the short go slotted her second in the round and the average.

Two rodeos remain on the schedule coming up the next two weekends. SWOSU will compete at Fort Hays State this Thursday-Saturday (April 17-19) before closing out the regular season April 24-26 at Panhandle State's rodeo in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The men currently sit fifth in the Central Plains Region Rankings. The women lead the region by a solid margin.
