SWOSU Women Secure Third Straight Region Title as Regular Rodeo Schedule Concludes

GUYMON, Okla. – For a third straight year, SWOSU Women's Rodeo secured a Central Plains Region Championship after finishing second as a team at Panhandle State in the final rodeo of the season. The men went on to finish 10th in the rodeo and fifth overall in the region.

The women's team concludes 2025 having won five out of 10 possible rodeos with no placing outside of the top five all year.

Over the weekend, Chenoa VandeStouwe was SWOSU's best performer – finishing first in the average in Goat Tying after tying for the lead in the short round. Chenoa ended the season ranked fourth in the region in the event. Her horse, Max, went on to be named the Central Plains Region Women's Horse of the Year.

Cheyenne VandeStouwe finished right behind Chenoa at OPSU in second place in goats and T-11 in Breakaway. She matched her sister's short round time to snag a share of the round win. Cheyenne went on to collect a clean sweep of region titles – winning Goat Tying, Breakaway, and the Women's All-Around. It's her second straight year winning the region's all-around championship.

Hadley Teut tied for fourth in the average in Goat Tying at OPSU and tied for eighth in the final region rankings.

For the men, Heston Harrison represented the team's best performance in Guymon. He rode both of his broncos in Saddle Bronc (64.5, 80) which included an 80-point ride in the short round. He finished second in the round and third in the average, jumping teammate Brody McAbee in the region rankings. Harrison ended fourth in the region, McAbee fifth.

Dustin Sanchez finished as the region's top-ranked bull rider.

This year's CNFR will be June 15-21 in Casper, Wyoming. The women's team finished 14th last year at the CNFR, after back-to-back Reserve National Championships in '22 and '21.
