HAYS, Kan. – For a fifth time this year, SWOSU Women's Rodeo took home the top spot at a rodeo after their latest first place finish at Fort Hays State over the weekend. The women were highlighted by Carli Stuva, who became the latest SWOSU cowgirl to win an all-around title.
 
The men ended up sixth as a team. Behind 81.5 points in the short round of Saddle Bronc, which was good for third in the round, Brody McAbee was SWOSU's second highest placing on the men's side with a fifth place finish in the average. Only Heston Harrison and Luke Crompton's fourth place finish in Team Roping was higher.  
 
Stuva tied for the average victory in Breakaway after a strong 2.8 second showing in the short round and paired it with a top 10 finish in the average of Barrel Racing. 
 
She joins Cheyenne VandeStouwe, Chenoa VandeStouwe, and Hadley Teut as SWOSU's all-around winners this year. Cheyenne has won three such titles, while the other three have added one apiece – totaling six for the SWOSU women's team in nine rodeos.
 
SWOSU's other top five average finishes came in Goat Tying and Barrel Racing.   
 
Chenoa VandeStouwe clocked consistent times in Goat Tying (8.3, 8.1) to finish second in the average. She was third in the long round and tied for second in the short go. It's her highest overall finish of the season in the event.   
  
Hadley Teut was right behind VandeStouwe in the average of Goat Tying, tied for third. She tied for fifth in the long round with an 8.7 before an 8.1 in the short go let her finish tied for second.
 
Braylee Ward and Hadley Tate finished next to each other in the average of Barrel Racing. Ward was no worse than fourth in either of her rounds and ended up third in the overall. Tate shaved off more than three tenths of a second in the short round and ended up fourth in the average. Stuva ended ninth in the average in barrels.
 
The regular season circuit concludes this upcoming week at Panhandle State's rodeo held in Guymon, Oklahoma on April 24-26.
