ALVA, Okla. – The fall portion of the SWOSU Rodeo season concluded over the weekend in Alva, with the Women's Team bringing home a fifth-place finish with 95 team points.
Shelby Lankford was the top performer for the Bulldogs, placing third in the average of Breakaway Roping and eighth in Goat Tying. She was third in the long round of breakaway in 2.4 seconds and split fifth in the short go, then took seventh in the long round of goats in 6.7 seconds and eighth in the short go in 10.0 seconds.
Adam Pearson led the SWOSU Men's Team with a ride of 67 points in Bareback, which placed him fourth in both the long round and average.
Brayden Tanner was 5.6 seconds in the long round of Steer Wrestling, which placed him sixth in the round.
"We are competing in a region that has put us all through the test this semester," Lankford said after the event. "Short rounds are made through perfectly executed runs we have practice a thousand times over. It is a privilege to be competing against such a tough crowd with a team that is supporting you through it. I look forward for the SWOSU Rodeo Team to continue working hard through the offseason and come back strong in the spring."
The Central Plains Region schedule now takes a hiatus until February 15-17, when the Dawgs return to action at the Kansas State Rodeo in Manhattan.
