DURANT, Okla. – Behind a pair of runner-up finishes in the average, the SWOSU Rodeo team came home with finishes of third place as a women's team and seventh as a men's team at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo, held over the weekend in Durant.
 
Shelby Lankford led the way for the women's team, placing second in the short round and the average of Breakaway. On top of that, Lankford was second in the long round of Goat Tying and shared fifth place in the average of that event. Nathan Hatchel had another strong showing in Bull Riding, scoring two rides of 71 points, which placed him second on the short go and the average. SWOSU also got a strong showing from Brayden Tanner and Wyatt Lohman in Steer Wrestling while William Freeland was ninth in the long round of bareback.
 
"Shelby, Nathan, Wyatt and Brayden all really came through for us," SWOSU Head Coach Mike Visnieski said. "We were a little conservative other than that and we will do our best to fix that between now and OSU."
 
SWOSU Rodeo returns to action on October 11-13 in Stillwater at the Oklahoma State NIRA Rodeo.
