Women's Basketball Looks to get Back on Track in Rivalry Game

Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Women's Basketball (14-8, 10-6 GAC) dropped its second game in a row for the first time all season after falling to East Central 88-74 on Saturday
- The Lady Bulldogs sit in fourth place in the GAC standings, now a game and a half away behind Southeastern after the Savage Storm took advantage of the SWOSU loss to extend their breathing room leading up to their matchup next Saturday
- The Lady Dawgs will now turn their attention to Northwestern, a team they have already lost to this season back on January 16 when the Rangers topped SWOSU 87-80
- SWOSU has never lost back-to-back contests to Northwestern and leads the GAC series 7-2 dating back to 2013 in their first meeting as conference foes
- The Lady Bulldogs are also undefeated against NWOSU at home in the GAC, holding a perfect 4-0 mark against the Rangers in Weatherford

The Opponent
Northwestern Oklahoma State (7-16, 6-11 GAC)
- After beating SWOSU last time they met, the Rangers went on a three-game winning streak (their longest of the season)
- Since that streak, NWOSU has lost five of its last six games heading into their rematch with the Lady Dawgs on Monday and currently sit tied for ninth place in the GAC standings
- Kalea King's 15.7 ppg is third highest in the entire GAC
- NWOSU leads the league in made 3-point shots with 200 total on the season, averaging 8.7 made deep balls per contest

The Coaches
SWOSU: Kelsi Musick (124-99, 8th season)
- Two-time GAC Coach of the Year, winning back-to-back honors for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons and she has led the Lady Bulldogs to three 20-win seasons
- Musick has coached one All-American and 15 All-GAC selections, including one Player of the Year (Darcie Dick, 2012) and one Freshman of the Year (Hailey Tucker, 2016)
- Musick has led SWOSU to the GAC Tournament Championship games with two GAC Tournament Championships (2012, 2014) and two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2013, 2014) to her credit
- In eight seasons at SWOSU, Musick has a career record of 124-99, including a mark of 7-2 against NWOSU
 
Northwestern Okla. St.: Tasha Diesselhorst (7-16, 1st season)
- Coach Diesselhorst is in her first season as head coach following a nine-year stint at
Pond Creek-Hunter (HS) where her team won the Class A state championship in 2014 and
finished as the runner-up in 2016
- She graduated and played at Oklahoma Christian, making the NAIA Tournament four times
 
Checking the Standings
- Harding, Arkansas Tech and now Southeastern have all punched their tickets to Bartlesville for the 2017 GAC Tournament and sit first through third place in the conference standings respectively
- SWOSU currently holds the fourth spot with their 10-6 league record, two games in front of Southern Nazarene and two and a half games in front of both East Central and Henderson State, while Arkansas-Monticello holds down the eighth spot 
- Ouachita and Northwestern are tied for ninth while Southern Arkansas and Oklahoma Baptist round out the standings tied for eleventh

SWOSU Notes
- The Lady Bulldogs dropped their first home game of the 2016-17 season on Saturday, after falling to East Central 88-74 and are now 7-1 in home games with five of them left to play this regular season
- The loss also marks the first time this season SWOSU has lost back-to-back games and now go to 6-1 this season following a loss
- SWOSU had a down shooting week overall, averaging 34.6% from the field in its two contests last week including a 17.8% mark from beyond the arc after going just 10-for-57 combined from three
- Hayden Priddy set a new career-high in rebounding on Saturday after grabbing a game-high 17 boards against ECU
- Priddy earned her third double-double of the season with those 17 rebounds and 12 points, her second such double-double with points and rebounds, with her other being with points and assists 
- Hailey Tucker recorded her eighth double-double of the season with her 25 points and 11 rebounds
- Tyra Aska turned the ball over eight times against the Tigers, the second most turnovers the freshman has committed this season
- Taylor Hedrick scored her second-highest point total (14) for the second time this season

- The Lady Dawgs will welcome Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday for the final home game SWOSU will play this week
- On Saturday, SWOSU hits the road to Durant to take on Southeastern in the final road game of the regular season
