Lady Bulldogs Set To Face Harding in Another Road Test

Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Women's Basketball (2-1) is coming off an impressive victory over No. 25-ranked Arkansas Tech and looks to keep its momentum against Harding in another road game in Searcy, Arkansas on Saturday, November 19 at 4 pm
- After losing the season opener to No. 4-ranked Emporia State, the Lady Bulldogs have won their last two games against Missouri Southern State and Arkansas Tech
- In the extreme early going of conference play, SWOSU is one of six teams who was victorious in their league opener on Thursday and sit tied for first place  

The Opponent
Harding (3-0)
- The Lady Bisons finished last season with a 17-10 overall record, good enough for second in the GAC behind ATU with a 15-7 league slate
- In this season's preseason coaches' poll, HU was picked to win the conference by barely edging out Tech in first place votes
- Harding returns a pair of All-GAC selections in Sydney Layrock, a First-Team choice and A'ndrea Haney, a Second-Team member and the 2016 GAC Defensive Player of the Year
- Layrock leads the Lady Bisons so far this season averaging 15 points per game and grabbing 6 rebounds a contest
- She is one of three HU players who average double digit points as Riley Rose and Caroline Hoque both currently average 10.3 points per game
- In the first three games of the season, Harding is outscoring opponents 224-171 overall

The Coaches
SWOSU: Kelsi Musick (112-92, 8th season)
- Coach Musick is a two-time GAC Coach of the Year, winning back-to-back honors for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons
- A great developer of talent, Musick has coached one All-American and 15 All-GAC selections, including one Player of the Year recipient
- She earned her 100th win as a head coach last season against rival Northwestern Oklahoma State on January 18, 2016
- Musick has won GAC Tournament Championships in two of the last five years, and made consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13 and 2013-14
- Coach Musick has also spent time as an assistant coach at Fresno State, where they won two Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles, as well as qualified for the NCAA Division I National Tournament in the 2008-09 season

Harding: Tim Kirby (210-107, 12th season)
-  Kirby has led the Lady Bisons to 10 straight conference tournament berths
- Coach Kirby's teams have won Great American Conference regular-season championships in 2014 and 2015, qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Tournament both seasons
- Kirby has coached 25 all-conference honorees, two conference players of the year and three conference freshmen of the year
- Prior to coming to Harding, Kirby spent five years at (NJCAA member) Carl Albert State College in Poteau, Okla. as the assistant men's basketball coach from 1988-1990 and head men's basketball coach from 1990-1993

SWOSU Notes
- After posting back-to-back double-doubles in the first two games, sophomore Hailey Tucker was named both the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Player of the Week as well as the GAC Player of the Week
- In Thursday's contest against Arkansas Tech, Tucker was one rebound away from yet another double-double, but finished the game with 16 points and nine rebounds
- Hayden Priddy was the Dawg's high scorer against Tech, posting 17 points to go along with her three assists, two blocks, and three steals
- Tucker (20.7), Priddy (11.0) and Taylor Hedrick (11.0) are all currently averaging double digits in points, followed by Tyra Aska (9.3), and Savannah Gray (8.0)
- Gray is helping SWOSU stretch the floor by knocking down a team-high six three-point shots this season at a 50-percent rate
- Priddy and Hedrick are the Lady Dawgs most active players on defense, both tying for the Bulldog lead with six steals   

Looking Ahead
- The Lady Bulldogs won't play again until next Saturday (Nov. 26) when they will wrap up their five-game road spurt to start the season in Tahlequah, Oklahoma against Northeastern State for a non-conference matchup
- On Thursday, December 1 SWOSU will finally play in front of its home crowd against Arkansas-Monticello and then again at home on Saturday (Dec. 3) against Southern Arkansas
