SEARCY, Ark. – Making their second consecutive NCAA Division II postseason tournament appearance – and second in school history – the Southwestern Oklahoma State University women's basketball team ran into No. 7 Emporia State, who ended the Lady Bulldogs season with a 97-65 victory in the Central Regional quarterfinals.

Emporia State jumped on the Lady Bulldogs from the beginning, taking a 15-4 lead into the first media break less than five minutes into the game. The Lady Hornets continued to click for most of the first half, shooting 56.4% from the field and building a 55-28 lead while only allowing SWOSU to hit 9-of-29 field goals. SWOSU also turned the ball over 13 times in the first half, leading to 23 points – 6 on the fast break – for Emporia State.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the second half strongly, mounting a 20-4 run over the first few minutes of the half, getting within 11 at 59-48 as Kylie Boggess hit her fourth 3-pointer of that run with 13:48 to play. SWOSU's momentum was short-lived as Emporia State responded by scoring 19 of the next 20 points scored over the next five-plus minutes to regain control by a count of 78-49 with 8:26 remaining.

That deficit left too much of a hole for SWOSU to climb out of, ending their season in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. The Lady Bulldogs finished the year 19-11, one game shy of their third straight 20-win season.

Boggess and Taryn Sayama led SWOSU with 14 points while Michelle Fisher added 12 points and Jessica Penner chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Fisher knocked down one 3-pointer to end her career with a SWOSU record 225 made 3-point field goals. She also graduates as the fourth all-time leading scorer in Lady Bulldog history with 1,446 career points.
