Lady Bulldogs Visit Central Oklahoma on Eve of Thanksgiving

SWOSU (4-2) at Central Oklahoma (4-2)
Wednesday, November 27, 5:30 pm
Edmond, Okla. (Hamilton Field House)

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – With back-to-back wins under their belt for the first time this season, the SWOSU women's basketball team heads to Edmond to face an old foe in Central Oklahoma on Wednesday evening. The Bronchos – like the Lady Dawgs – are 4-2 on the season.
After opening the season 4-0, Central Oklahoma has lost their last two games when they faced Tarleton State and Texas Women's at the Marriott Champions Circle Pioneer Premiere. Wednesday's matchup with SWOSU will be the final non-conference game of the season for the Bronchos before they embark on a full MIAA schedule.
SWOSU alternated wins and losses through their first four games but finally broke through against Southern Arkansas for their first Saturday victory of the season. The Lady Dawgs improved to 4-2 with two wins in Arkansas last weekend and they are now 2-0 in Great American Conference play heading into their final two non-conference matchups.
Senior Jill Bryan leads the Bronchos in virtually every statistical category, including scoring (15.8 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg), assists (3.2 apg) and steals 2.3 spg). UCO also gets 10.7 points a game from sophomore Haley Weathers, who has made a team-high 14 3-pointers.  Sophomore Julia Mason chips in 10.5 points and 5.7 rebounds a contest.
The Lady Bulldogs counter with the No. 15 scoring offense in NCAA Division II, averaging 87.5 points per game on the year despite just one player averaging more than 10 points per game. Michelle Fisher has scored 18.7 points per game so far this season to lead SWOSU, but seven other players currently average more than seven points per game to provide the balance of the offense.
Sarina Sayama has come off the bench to lead SWOSU in scoring in two of the last three games, include a career-best 17 points against Southern Arkansas on Saturday. She is currently the Dawgs second-leading scorer, averaging 9.0 points, followed by Sarah Mendoza, who has an average of 9.0 points per game. Others in the rotation and averaging above the seven-point mark are Chelsea Bates, Kimmi Sawatzky, Kylie Boggess, Taryn Sayama and Jessica Penner.
Following the game, SWOSU will have just one non-conference game remaining on the schedule. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Goodwell, Okla., on Monday (Dec. 2) to face Oklahoma-Panhandle State before opening up conference play against Southern Nazarene on December 5.
