PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – SWOSU Women's Golf wrapped up the opening round of stroke play at the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships on Tuesday, as one of just three teams in the field to complete their round before rain soaked the area causing tournament delays.
All teams who did not finish will pick up their rounds Wednesday morning. SWOSU's second round, along with all other teams, will begin following the completion of round one.
On Tuesday,
Freya Sala (74; +2) carded five birdies during her round and finished one-over on both the front and back nine. A quad bogey on the back side offset an otherwise strong stretch that included three birdies and four pars.
Maria Velilla (75; +3) finished one shot behind Sala at three-over par, followed closely by
Daniela Espinoza (76; +4) at four-over. Velilla shot even par on her back nine with two birdies, while Espinoza birdied holes nine and 13 and played seven holes under par from holes 11-17.
London Wilson (84; +12) and
Nerea Anton (89; +17) rounded out the SWOSU lineup.
