SWOSU Softball seeks its first conference win this weekend when it faces Southern Nazarene in another three-game GAC series.
The Bulldogs are coming off a winless, but strong showing against nationally ranked Oklahoma Baptist last weekend at home. SWOSU pushed the Bison in all three games, highlighted by an 8-7 loss in the series finale where the Dawgs outhit OBU 14-11 for a new season high.
SNU will be looking to win its first league series of the season this weekend. The Crimson Storm lost 2-of-3 to a ranked Southern Arkansas team and to Southeastern in their first two series of 2026. SNU finished third in the league last year, a year after they made a regional and placed second in the conference in 2024. The Storm were picked to finish fourth in this year's preseason poll.
Through six GAC games,
Emily Wedel is leading SWOSU at the plate. She's 7-for-16 with a pair of extra-base hits and has scored three runs. Two other Bulldogs,
Taylor McMahon (.375) and
Sierra Woods (.333), are hitting above the .300 mark against conference opponents.
In the circle, all four SWOSU pitchers have seen significant action in GAC play.
Jaycee McKee has appeared in five of the six league games so far.
Alexis Taylor, who battled illness during the OBU series, will look to return to full strength this weekend against the Crimson Storm. Taylor has logged the most innings of any SWOSU pitcher this season with 42, and she owns three complete games and one shutout.
The Bulldogs will be looking to win a series against SNU for the first time since 2021, when SWOSU swept the Storm in Weatherford. The Dawgs have not won a road series in Bethany since 2013. Last season, SWOSU run-ruled SNU in the series finale, snapping a five-game losing streak in a stretch where the Bulldogs had dropped 10 of the previous 11 meetings.
The series begins Friday with a 3:00 p.m. first pitch. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for noon. With rain and storms in the forecast, be sure to follow SWOSU Athletics on social media and check SWOSUAthletics.com for any schedule updates.
