The Bulldogs prepare for the final chapter of the 2026 season as they host Arkansas Tech for a three-game Great American Conference series this weekend. Due to scheduling changes, the action has been moved to Saturday and Sunday at the SWOSU Athletic Complex for Senior Weekend. The Dawgs will look to end their campaign on a high note and provide a memorable send-off for their veteran leaders in front of the home crowd.
SWOSU enters this final stretch following a series against Ouachita Baptist where they continued to showcase the grit that has defined their spring. While the season has seen its share of obstacles, the Bulldogs have proven they can compete with anyone, highlighted by their signature upset of Southern Arkansas earlier this year.
Historically, the Golden Suns have held the upper hand in this matchup, winning 36 of the 46 meetings between the two programs in the GAC era. However, the Dawgs have won the last two matchups, going 2-1 in each. Arkansas Tech is currently tied for second in the GAC standings, and could finish anywhere between first and third going into next week's conference tournament. SWOSU has already been mathematically eliminated.
Offensively, the Bulldogs are led by redshirt senior
Maddie Rahon, who has at least one hit in 18 of her last 19 games, and
Taylor McMahon, SWOSU's other hitter above .300 this season. SWOSU currently ranks seventh in the GAC with a .266 team batting average and will need that veteran production against a disciplined ATU pitching staff. The Golden Suns currently boast the second lowest league ERA at 2.16, making timely hitting and base running the primary keys for a Bulldog victory.
In the circle, sophomore
Alexis Taylor has compiled a team leading 72 strikeouts in the 2026 campaign. Last week against Northwestern, Taylor hurled a complete game and suffered a tough luck 1-0 loss. She faces a formidable challenge against an Arkansas Tech lineup that ranks in the top five of the conference in total home runs and slugging percentage. Keeping the ball in the park and limiting walks will be essential for the Dawgs to keep the Golden Suns' high-powered offense in check.
Seven seniors will be honored prior to the start of Saturday's action,
Blaire Gentry,
Emily Wedel,
Maddie Rahon,
Skyla McPhillips,
Sierra Woods,
Taylor McMahon, and
Riley Lusk.
