SWOSU Softball returns home this weekend for a conference series with the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The doubleheader is set for Friday at noon, and game three will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs make their way back to Weatherford after a five-game road trip, falling to SNU over the weekend 2-1 in the GAC series. They then moved north to Hays, Kansas and split a non-conference doubleheader with Fort Hays State on Tuesday. The Lady Dawgs stand 5-19 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

UAM comes in after getting swept at home against Arkansas Tech, putting them at 8-15 overall, 1-8 in conference play. With identical marks in GAC play, and as we near the halfway point of the season, a series win would go a long way for both.

Emily Wedel continues to be the catalyst in conference play, going 10-for-27 (.370) at the plate across the nine games. Throughout the entire 24-game season thus far,  Wedel (.340), Landry Bayless (.323), and Maddie Rahon (.306) lead SWOSU in batting average. Taylor McMahon (.294) could become the fourth batter above .300 with a strong showing this weekend. McMahon is second on the team through nine conference contests, having gone 9-for-25 for a .360 mark right behind Wedel.

All four Bulldog pitchers continue to see action in the circle. Blaire Gentry picked up the first conference win against SNU in game two, throwing five scoreless innings after giving up a run in the first. Alexis Taylor threw a gem in game one against Fort Hays State, allowing no runs on three hits. She walked two batters, but struck out seven.

UAM leads the all-time series, but winners have flip-flopped over the past few seasons. The series winner has been the home team every year since 2021. SWOSU is 16-14 at home against the Blossoms in the GAC era, and have won six of the last seven games played in Weatherford. 19 of the 56 matchups since 2012 have been one-score games.
