SWOSU Softball will host No. 20 Oklahoma Baptist this weekend for their first home games of the season. The series is scheduled for one game on Friday at 2:00 pm, with the doubleheader set to begin at noon on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs fell last week in a series sweep against Harding. The Lady Bisons were picked to finish third in the GAC this season, and proved they were worthy of the rank. OBU was the preseason number two in the conference after finishing second last season, ultimately falling to Southern Arkansas in the finals of the GAC Tournament.

The early-season tests continue to come for SWOSU. OBU is the second of three matchups against the top three teams in the GAC, all in the first three weeks of the conference season.

The Bulldogs will have a tough climb to the top of the rankings with this type of schedule, looking to build on their seventh-place finish last season. The finish earned them their first trip to the postseason since 2019. The homecoming will mark the first home game of first-year coach Cheyenne Mahy's career.

After the Harding series, the team totals dropped a few points. As a team, SWOSU hits for a .240 average, led by Landry Bayless (.370) and Josie Oakley (.310). Riley Lusk has also been a boost to the offense, hitting .289 and adding six RBIs.

Alexis Taylor has continued to be the most consistent arm in the circle, totaling a 2.88 ERA in 41.1 innings, and has the most starts of any pitcher with seven.

OBU comes into Weatherford in the top three of the GAC in batting average, as well as ERA. As a team, they hit an outstanding .330, while posting a 2.81 ERA. Those numbers combined have resulted in a 15-2 start to their season, as well as a series sweep of Arkansas-Monticello last week.

In the GAC era, the series has been mostly even. OBU leads 17-12, helped by an eight-game win streak between 2023 and 2025. The Lady Dawgs' win in game three last season marked their first against the Bison since the 2022 season. SWOSU is 5-6 against the Bison in games played in Weatherford.
