WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Softball has been picked eighth in the Great American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced Wednesday.
The Bulldogs are coming off a season in which they tied for seventh in the final conference standings and qualified for the Great American Conference postseason tournament for the first time since 2019.
SWOSU returns 11 players from last year's roster, including All-GAC selections
Alexis Taylor (P, sophomore) and
Taylor McMahon (C, senior). Senior infielder
Maddie Rahon, a two-time All-GAC honoree, also returns after missing the entire 2025 season due to injury.
Seven newcomers — five transfers and two freshmen — join the program to round out the Bulldogs' 18-player roster.
Head coach
Cheyenne Mahy begins her first season at the helm this spring after being named the program's leader in August.
The Bulldogs will open the 2026 season with three early-season round-robin tournaments before conference play begins February 20 with a road series in Arkansas. SWOSU's home opener is set for February 27-28 against Oklahoma Baptist. The GAC Tournament, should the Bulldogs qualify, will be held May 7-9 in Bentonville, Arkansas.
